Monday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Friday night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 198 points at 16,020, the NASDAQ finished up 29 points at 4062 and the S&P 500 ended the day up 20 points at 1805.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently down five points at 6547.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 31 pips at $1.6386, EUR/USD is up 18 pips at $1.3724 and USD/JPY is up 19 pips at ¥103.07. Brent crude is down three cents at $111.60 and gold is trading at $1230, up $1.

Stocks: Lloyds sold UK commercial property loans to a US private equity firm for £90 million.

The day ahead: German industrial production is due at 11am. In the US, James Bullard of the Federal Reserve is due to make an announcement at 6.05pm.
