Friday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up six points at 14,937, the NASDAQ finished up nine points at 3658 and the S&P 500 ended the day up two points at 1655.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up one point at 6533.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is down three pips at $1.5587, EUR/USD is up four pips at $1.3124 and USD/JPY is down 45 pips at ¥99.66. Brent crude is down 12 cents at $115.17 and gold is trading at $1371, up $4.

Stocks: Tullow Oil announced an oil discovery off the coast of Norway.

The day ahead: UK manufacturing production, industrial production and trade balance are due at 9.30am, followed by German industrial production at 11am. In the US, non-farm payrolls and unemployment are due out at 1.30pm, followed by the GDP estimate at 3pm.
