Friday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 95 points at 15,509, the NASDAQ finished 21 points higher at 3928 and the S&P 500 ended the day up five points at 1752.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently down six points at 6707

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up two pips at $1.6202, EUR/USD is up 11 pips at $1.3813 and USD/JPY is down 28  pips at ¥96.99. Brent crude is down 27 cents at $106.75 and gold is down $3 trading at $1343..

Stocks: SVG Capital reported a 3.5% rise in net asset value in the third quarter.

The day ahead: UK GDP is due at 9.30am. In the US, core durable goods orders are out at 1.30pm, followed by the University of Michigan consumer sentiment at 2.55pm and wholesale inventories at 3pm.
