Friday morning snapshot

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 323 points at 15,126, the NASDAQ finished up 82 points at 3760 and the S&P 500 ended the day up 36 points at 1692.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 14 points at 6444.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 14 pips at $1.5983, EUR/USD is down 13 pips at $1.3536 and USD/JPY is up 19 pips at ¥98.34. Brent crude is down 44 cents at $110.56 and gold is trading at $1291, up $3.

Stocks: Lloyds sold its Australian operation to Westpac Bank for £900 million.

The day ahead: UK CB leading index is due out at 10am. US University of Michigan consumer sentiment is due out at 2.55pm.
