Wednesday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 138 points at 15,318, the NASDAQ finished up 30 points at 3482 and the S&P 500 closed up 12 points at 1651.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently down 44 points at 6330.

FX and commoditiesGBP/USD is up nine pips at $1.5651, EUR/USD is down one pip at $1.3392 and USD/JPY is down 29 pips at Y95.03. Oil - Brent Crude is up 18 cents at $106.18 and gold is trading at $1369, up $1.

Stocks: Berkeley Group has announced a 26% rise in annual pre-tax profit, while Imagination Technologies revealed a 20% increase in annual profit.

The day ahead: In Europe, Bank of England minutes are issued at 9.30am. In the US, a Federal Reserve statement is due for release at 7pm (all London times).
