Friday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning’s equity news and key markets movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 180 points at 15,176, the NASDAQ finished up 44 points at 3445 and the S&P 500 closed up 23 points at 1636.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 20 points at 6324.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is down 31 pips at $1.5692, EUR/USD is down 33 pips at $1.3343 and USD/JPY is down 60 pips at Y94.76. Brent Crude is down 11 cents at $104.87 and gold is trading at $1385, down $1.

Stocks: Glencore Xstrata announced a new credit facility worth $17.34 billion to support their daily business.

The day ahead: In Europe, UK leading index, eurozone CPI and employment change is due out at 10am.

In the US, PPI and current account reports are expected at 1.30pm. US industrial production and University of Michigan consumer sentiment are due out at 2.15pm and 2.55pm respectively (London time).
