Creation units definition
Creation units are the blocks of securities that comprise ETF. They are also known as creation baskets.
Each creation unit will contain all of the securities held by its ETF. These large blocks are then split up by authorised participants and sold on in smaller sizes to individual investors.
There is a minimum number of shares which an ETF provider will put into each creation unit: typically 50,000 shares, but this can vary.
