IG launches commission-free investing in Ireland giving retail investors access to over 11,000 stocks and ETFs

5 November 2025, Dublin - Investment and trading platform IG (LSE: IGG), a FTSE 250 company, has launched commission-free investing in Ireland, expanding its services to meet a growing demand from retail investors. IG is now the joint most competitively priced investment platform in the Irish market, combining zero commission with a low 0.15% FX fee and access to global markets.

Irish customers can invest in more than 11,000 stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on global markets, whilst benefitting from IG’s range of trading and investment tools. They will also be able to access 24/5 trading on the most popular US stocks alongside IG’s interest-on-cash offer, which matches the ECB base rate, currently at 2%. IG applies a total FX transaction fee of just 0.15%, further boosting its value proposition for Irish investors.

IG will offer all Irish stocks with a secondary London listing - including well-known names such as Kerry Group, Ryanair and AIB - at zero commission. This market-leading access sets IG apart from many global providers operating in Ireland, enabling customers to trade household Irish corporate brand names as easily as other global stocks. This move is expected to appeal strongly to investors seeking cost-effective access to domestic equities.

Founded in 1974, IG already offers Irish customers a range of trading products through its web and app platforms, including spread betting and CFDs. Share-trading and ETFs will now be fully integrated into the platform, simplifying the investment journey for customers and providing a more complete  experience.

The launch reflects a growing appetite among Irish retail investors to take greater control of their financial future. While the market has seen a surge in participation in recent years, investors have faced limited choice and higher fees compared with other markets. IG aims to change that by offering a low-cost, comprehensive platform suitable for investors and traders at a time of increased interest in investment, particularly among younger demographics.

IG’s entry into Ireland comes at a timely moment, following October’s Budget 2026, which introduced a modest but welcome reduction in Capital Gains Tax on ETFs from 41% to 38%. The Government has also signalled its intention to make further positive reforms in the coming years to support and encourage retail investing.

To illustrate IG’s competitive pricing, the table below (see appendix*) compares the cost of a €5,000 purchase of an Irish equity e.g. AIB (ex. VAT and stamp duties) across major brokers:

Provider Fee (€) Comission (€) Total (€) % investment
Davy Phone 150 82.5 232.5 4.65%
Cantor Phone 450 75 525 10.50%
Davy Online 175 25 200 4.00%
Goodbody Online 100 50 150 3.00%
eToro 37.5 0.92 38.42 0.77%

Michael Healy, UK and Ireland Managing Director at IG: "For too long, Irish retail investors have faced limited choice and punitive fees. With interest in investing growing rapidly in Ireland, we want to give consumers the ability to access global markets through a comprehensive, low-cost platform.

“Our commission-free shares and ETF offering provides access to over 11,000 assets and a full suite of investment tools, helping people take greater control of their financial future. And this is just the start - we’re continuing to develop new products and features to further improve the investing experience for Irish customers. We see significant growth potential and we’re excited to help more people build their wealth. We also welcome the measures to reduce CGT on ETFs in Budget 2026 and the broader signals that point to a more investor-friendly policy environment in the years ahead."
