Trainline.com flies despite UK rail strikes
International ticketing company Trainline.com has seen its shares soar after first-half earnings defied UK striking rail workers.
In a testament to the broad spread of the business, it was able to weather the disruption at home to benefit from a record period for its international unit. However, despite significant disruption from the UK-wide train strikes, Trainline's UK business saw strong growth, with ticket sales rising 19 per cent year-on-year to £1.7bn. So good were these interims that the company has been able to initiate a £50m share buyback scheme.
