Another ‘compromise’ from EU as it agrees partial Russian oil sanctions
Obtaining a consensus within the European Union (EU) has always been difficult and Monday’s late agreement to restrict Russian oil imports was another compromise.
This time it was an objection from Hungary that watered down the original aim to embargo Russian oil.
Additionally the sanctions won’t start immediately. Nonetheless, European Council chief, Charles Michel, said the deal cut off "a huge source of financing" for the Russian war machine, just not yet.
