FTSE 100 and S&P 500 moving up as Dax struggles
Indices have continued in a quiet pattern, although the FTSE 100 and S&P 500 have managed to make some gains.
FTSE 100 builds on recent gains
The FTSE 100 has edged up over the past two sessions and has now succeeded in moving above trendline resistance from the January high. Continued gains will cement this breakout and bring 6900 into view once more. Alternately a reversal will revive the short-term bearish view and suggest a move back towards rising trendline support from the beginning of December.
Dax mixed after earlier recovery
Hopes of a continuation of the cautious move higher from Monday and Tuesday appear to have been dashed as the DAX price drops back, raising the prospect of continued declines towards 13,600. Buyers need to recover control with a move back above 13,954.
S&P 500 makes headway
The S&P 500 price has marched higher over the last 48 hours and seems set on further gains that will carry it back towards 3830 and the record high. It remains in an ascending channel, having bounced off the lower bound at the end of last week.
