UK prime minister Theresa May warns policymakers on Sunday failure to deliver Brexit would be “disastrous” to democracy.

May’s warning comes as her last plea, two days before parliament decides on whether to reject her deal with Brussels.

May wrote a message to parliament on Sunday in UK’s Sunday Express, warning parliament not to fail the people who backed Brexit in 2016.

‘Doing so would be a catastrophic and unforgivable breach of trust in our democracy,’

‘So, my message to Parliament this weekend is simple: it is time to forget the games and do what is right for our country.’ May wrote.

May has so far shown no signs of retreating from the deal, which involves close trading ties with the EU.

The Labour party has said Labour would vote against the deal and would table a motion of no confidence if May loses.

This comes after Labour party leader Jeremey Corban said on Friday, a general election would be needed if May couldn’t get her Brexit deal ratified by parliament to break a deadlock.

May warns of Brexit block

May’s unpopular deal has resulted in the EU asking for a cleaner break, with many pro-Europeans pressing for a second referendum.

May's deal is expected to suffer a big defeat when parliament votes on Tuesday.

Brexit minister Stephen Barclay told BBC TV that convincing enough lawmakers to support the deal would be "challenging" but that, even if it was rejected, he thinks parliament would ultimately support something "along the lines of this deal".

May is set to use a speech on Monday to warn that Parliament is more likely to block Brexit than the UK leaving the EU without a deal.

She will say she believes that lawmakers blocking Brexit is now a more likely outcome than Britain leaving the EU without a deal
