What's in the week ahead for Brexit
Stephen Booth from Open Europe gives his thoughts on what could come through this week in UK politics.
With a week in UK politics that could see any one of a number of outcomes, Stephen Booth from Open Europe says that while the legal position is that the UK will leave the EU at midnight on 31 October, in reality there are three outcomes that could give direction. Booth says blocking no-deal Brexit is likely to be done by MPs ‘taking control’ over the legislature, however, he says, are there enough MPs that will move across the house, if there are, will legislation be passed and is it is passed what will the government do with the law? He says, getting to that end point, may yet end up in either the UK government not acting on the law or the EU not allowing more time for the UK to negotiate a new deal.
