This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 24 points at 6673.
FX and commodities: GBP/USD is down 14 pips at $1.6582, EUR/USD is down 18 pips at $1.3701 and USD/JPY is down five pips at ¥103.87. Brent crude is up 29 cents at $106.42 and gold is trading at $1290, up $3.15.
Stocks: Tesco has announced that finance director Laurie McIlwee will be stepping down. Barclays continues to strip assets as it looks to offload its Spanish operations. Passenger numbers were up 4.8% at easyJet. Advertising and public relations company WPP has said it sees income from South America improving in the next five years, and expects around 15% of revenue to come from that region by then.
The day ahead: German monthly factory orders rose fractionally to 0.6%. All eyes are on this afternoon’s US non-farm employment change expected at 1.30pm, along with the US unemployment rate which is expected to drop from 6.7% down to 6.6%.
