Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed down 44 points at 16,414, the NASDAQ finished up 28 points at 4225 and the S&P 500 ended the day up five points at 1843.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 21 points at 6855.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is down 13 pips at $1.6462, EUR/USD is down 15 pips at $1.3546 and USD/JPY is up 14 pips at ¥104.44. Brent crude is up 53 cents at $107.30 and gold is trading at $1240, down $1.

Stocks: Business software supplier Sage expects to meet its target for a 6% increase in revenue in 2015.

The day ahead: UK unemployment, MPC asset-purchase votes and the MPC rates vote will be announced at 9.30am.
