Friday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed down five points at 16,264, the NASDAQ finished down 22 points at 4151 and the S&P 500 ended the day down four points at 1849.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 18 points at 6606.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 22 pips at $1.6627, EUR/USD is down 29 pips at $1.3713 and USD/JPY is down ten pips at ¥102.12. Brent crude is up 10 cents at $107.85 and gold is trading at $1295, up $5.

Stocks: British-based organiser of exhibitions and conferences ITE Group has stated it expects its first half revenue to increase by 4%.

The day ahead: Today will see the UK current account and gross domestic product released at 9.30am.

In the US, personal spending and personal income are due out at 12.30pm, followed by University of Michigan consumer sentiment at 1.55pm.
