How long does the application process take?
Most applications are approved electronically in moments, so you can start trading straight away. If we need you to send any documents in to confirm your identity (see below), the process will take a little longer.

Do I need to send any documents?
We need to confirm you identity, but in the vast majority of cases you will not need to send us any supporting documents as we can verify your address details online. Occasionally we will be unable to confirm your identity online (for example if you have moved house recently), and in such cases we will contact you in order to verify your details. If you’ve applied by post, you’ll have to enclose proof of identity as described on the form.
Do I need to deposit funds to open an account?
No, you don't need to send any money to open your account, though you will have to deposit funds before you start dealing.
How do I deposit funds?
You can fund your account using most major debit/credit cards or via bank transfer. You’ll need to log in to your account and go to the My Account tab within the web-based dealing platform. See more details on how to make a payment.
I’d like someone to deal on my behalf; can I appoint a power of attorney to trade for me?
Yes. Initially, please open an account in the usual way. Once your account is open, you can fill in a power of attorney form which will allow a nominated third party to access your account.
