Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed down 21 points at 16,846, the NASDAQ finished down one point at 3826 and the S&P 500 ended the day down two points at 1957.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 19 point at 6754.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up one point at $1.7025, EUR/USD is up three points at $1.3615 and USD/JPY is down 30 points at ¥101.43. Brent crude is up six cents at $113.22 and gold is trading at $1316, up $1.

Stocks: Keller Group, the ground engineering company, has stated its outlook for the first half of its financial year is unchanged. United Utilities has announced a plan to reduce household bills by 2.3% between 2015 and 2020.

The day ahead: Today will see the release of the UK current account and the final GDP at 9.30am. Later in the day the University of Michigan consumer confidence is due out at 2.55pm.
