DAX
The DAX remains within reach of its all-time high but has slipped just below its recent consolidation range after the open. Buyers need to regain lost ground before a fresh push towards 26,800 becomes possible.
The DAX is trading around 26,478 points shortly after the open, just below its recent consolidation range. Some of the pre-market strength has faded, although the index’s all-time high of approximately 26,619 points remains within reach, around 140 points away. Before mounting another challenge to that record, buyers first need to reclaim 26,500 points.
German factory orders, meanwhile, paint a mixed picture. Orders rose 4.4% month on month in September, recovering only part of August’s revised 10.1% decline. The rebound offers some encouragement, but it does not yet establish a sustained recovery in industrial demand.
Following Wednesday’s strong rally, the hourly chart developed a consolidation range between approximately 26,500 and 26,680 points. The decline to 26,478 has taken the price just below its lower boundary. The immediate question is whether buyers can quickly bring it back inside the range.
A recovery above 26,500 would put the upper boundary back in focus. Together with the upper 1σ Bouhmidi Band at 26,689, this forms a resistance area around 26,680–26,700 points. A confirmed breakout above that area would support a continuation towards 26,800, followed by a potential target zone at 26,920–26,940.
If buyers fail to reclaim the range and an hourly candle closes below 26,500, the risk of a deeper pullback increases. The next potential support levels lie around 26,350, followed by the lower 1σ Bouhmidi Band near 26,190.
| Scenario | Trigger | Potential targets | Invalidated by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long: rally resumes | Recovery above 26,500, followed by a confirmed hourly breakout above 26,700 | 26,800, then 26,920–26,940 | A sustained move back below 26,680 after the breakout |
| Short: pullback deepens | Hourly close below 26,500, followed by a failed attempt to reclaim that level | 26,350, then approximately 26,190 | A sustained recovery above 26,500 |
