Why can I not see CFD options?

IG has recently taken a business decision to no longer support options trading for CFD accounts contracted through our EU entitiesOptions will are still be available on spread bet accounts.

See our options bet product details.

Any CFD option position that you had open on your account at the time of the regulation taking effect will have been closed at the mid-point of the IG price. As a result, no spread will have been charged.

Retail clients contracting with IG entities outside the EU can continue to trade CFDs on options without any restrictions, as can professional clientsIf you have high levels of trading experience, a large investment portfolio or experience working in financial services, you may meet regulatory criteria to be categorised as professional.

If you think you may be eligible, you can elect to be categorised as professional in three steps:

  1. Log in to your IG account
  2. Follow the prompts
  3. Answer the questions

If you can’t see the prompt, go to ‘settings’ > ‘client and account status’ on desktop, or the 'accounts' area in-app.

Please note that if you elect to be categorised as a professional client, you’re not deemed to need the same level of protection as a retail client, and your trading may be subject to fewer restrictions – including those on margin rates and CFD options.
