What are the IG Smart Portfolio fees and charges?

Our fees are quoted annually for greater clarity but are calculated daily and charged monthly. There are no sign-up fees, minimum investment periods, exit fees or inactivity fees.

There are three main fees that apply to an IG Smart Portfolio:

1. IG management fee

Our management fee is based on the total value of your IG Smart Portfolios per account type (general investment or stocks and shares ISA). The fee is inclusive of VAT using a tiered structure — with a maximum management fee of £250 per year.

2. ETF costs

Exchange traded funds (ETF) have a small charge built into their performance, known as the total expense ratio (TER), which is automatically paid to the ETF provider. The average TER for the iShares ETFs held in IG Smart Portfolios is 0.15%.

3. Transaction costs

Transaction costs are an estimated 0.07% per annum to account for the market spread when portfolio rebalancing is carried out.

We’re committed to being transparent about our charges, so we’ll show you an estimated total cost of ownership (TCO) before you invest.

Fees and charges

*Compare us against other leading UK providers.

Please note that our fee structure applies to each IG Smart Portfolio account type (general investment or stocks and shares ISA), and is based on the underlying value of all the portfolios you hold within it – so the more your investments are worth, the more you’ll save.

Example:

If your general investment IG Smart Portfolios are worth £20,000, we’ll charge you a management fee of £100 for the year. If you invest £75,000, we’ll charge you a management fee of 0.50% on the first £50,000 invested and nothing on the amount above this. This caps the management fee you pay at £250 per year.
