Market Trading Hours

Your local drugstore may be open 24 hours, but the hours vary with stocks, equity options, CME futures, and options on futures. As long as the markets are open, you'll be able to trade on the US Options & Futures platform. All times listed below are in Central Standard Time (Chicago time).

When are the markets open for trading?

Stocks

Pre-market session: 7:00 am to 8:30 am

Regular trading session: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

After-market session: 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Equity/ETF Options

Regular trading session: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm*

*Equity options do not trade during the pre-market or after-hours trading session. However, some equity options trade until 3:15 pm. Please click here to view a list of underlyings that trade up to 15 minutes after the bell.

CME Futures & Options on Futures

Futures hours vary by product. The illustration below goes over the trading hours of each product. Futures trade nearly six days a week with Monday's trading session beginning Sunday evening (Chicago time) with the last trading session concluding Friday afternoon. Trading hours for options on futures correspond with the underlying contract. In short, when the outright futures are available for trading, the corresponding options are also available.
