Tuesday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Last night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 88 points at 15,224, the NASDAQ finished five points stronger at 3484 and the S&P 500 closed eight points ahead at 1640.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up 60 points at 6510.

FX and commoditiesGBP/USD is up 20 pips at $1.4972, EUR/USD is 12 pips higher at $1.2883 and USD/JPY is up 15 pips at ¥101.12. Olie - Brent Crude is down eight cents at $107.28 and Gold is trading at $1256, up $18.

StocksMarks & Spencer has announced a 0.3% rise in quarterly sales.

The day ahead: In Europe, UK manufacturing, trade balance and industrial production are due at 9.30am. In the US, the NFIB small business index is out at 1.15pm, followed by the NIESR GDP estimate at 3pm (all London times).
