IG Bank welcomes GSHC professional players
In December 2017 IG Bank welcomed some special guests to the office, when four professional hockey players from Geneva Servette Hockey Club popped by to meet us and talk about their experience as sport professionals and the psychology of top-level sports.
In a presentation to employees, star player Tim Traber said: "Ice hockey is 90% mental and 10% physical. As a spectator watching a game, you probably think it's the opposite. But in the end, ice hockey is much more about mental forces. This is what decides a game."
As well as Tim, other representatives from the club to join were Johan Fransson, who was drafted and traded as a prospect in the NHL three times, and two former NHL players, Nick Spaling and Richard Tanner.
During the visit, IG Bank staff took the unique opportunity to get some interesting insights into the life of professional athletes, grabbed some food and drinks together, took pictures and got some autographs.
At the end of the players' visit, Market Analyst Andreas Ruhlmann explained how our trading platform works and provided some basic information about stocks and CFD trading – something the players were really interested in, with some of them drawing parallels with ice hockey where strategy, speed and fast adaptation is also so crucial.
