How do I transfer my shares to IG?

You can transfer existing shares from another broker or a registrar to us by following the simple steps below.

Transfers from local brokers usually take up to two weeks once we have all the required documents. However, registry (issuer-sponsored) and international transfers may take up to six weeks due to the complexity of the transfer process. Any delays caused by your current broker are beyond our control.

Submitting your transfer request:

1. Open an account
Don't have an account yet? No problem! Get started by opening a share trading account with us here.

2. Log in and select account
Log in to your IG dashboard, head to the 'live accounts' tab, and pick the share trading account for your transfer.

3. Start your transfer
Select 'stock transfers', then 'start transfer request'. Just follow the prompts to get things moving.

4. Sign and submit
Print and sign the transfer form, then email the scanned copy to stock.transfers.au@ig.com.

5. Track your transfer
Keep tabs on your transfer through your IG dashboard. We’ll also keep you updated via email.

*Electronic signatures are not accepted; only forms with a wet ink signature will be processed.

If you need to transfer shares to us and change ownership (eg, between individuals or entities), email stock.transfers.au@ig.com for guidance and the necessary forms.

Please note:

  • You may be out of the market during the transfer. Once complete, your shares will appear under ‘open positions’ on your platform.
