Why do we have guidelines and requirements?

At IG, we are committed to remaining a world-leader in online trading by providing our clients with the best experience. We are also dedicated to building long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our affiliate partners who share our vision and values.

That’s why we have established some guidelines and requirements for the IG.com affiliate programme. These are designed to ensure that our affiliates promote our services in a fair, honest, and compliant manner, and that they adhere to the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

What does IG require from our affiliates?

If you meet the following criteria, we happily review your application for a new affiliate partnership:

Your website or platform must focus on finance, investment, or trading topics, or have a dedicated section for them

Affiliate website content must be original and relevant to the finance, investment, or trading topics that IG offers - The content must not contain any plagiarism, duplication, or spam

The content must also comply with the quality standards and best practices of SEO and web design

Affiliate website content must be created using a domain the affiliate owns in its entirety, or the company the affiliate represents owns in its entirety

The domain must not be part of a content syndication or publishing company, such as Wix, Medium or Blogspot

Your content must be fair and unbiased, and follow the rules of any relevant regulators

All pages containing affiliate links, and all pages containing affiliate content must contain a commission disclosure

You must be able to show us your identity documents if requested to verify your information and application

You must be over 18 years old, or the legal age in your country, or the authorised person for a registered company

What would exclude me from being an IG affiliate?

IG will review your web property as part of your application process. If the existing content on your website is deemed to be inappropriate for IG or potential IG clients then we will not be willing to start a partnership with you.

Content that may harm clients or the markets is not acceptable. This includes content that:

Makes trading or investing seem risk-free or easy

Suggests trading or investing a certain way has guaranteed success

Misleads or attempts to trick the visitor or client in any way

Does not show the potential losses as well as the gains of trading or investing

Damages the integrity or stability of the markets

Is too complex or confusing for the target audience

Additionally, IG will review any existing or previous business relationship with IG. An existing or previous business relationship could exclude you from becoming an affiliate depending on the circumstances which ended the previous relationship. This does not exclude current IG clients from becoming affiliates in this scheme, however we would suggest refer-a-friend as a more appropriate option for current IG clients.

Finally, like many other businesses, IG has a list of jurisdictions where it does not do business. Any affiliate which is based in these countries would not be eligible to join the programme. Any applications from these countries will be immediately rejected.

Monitoring affiliate content

All IG affiliate content will undergo regular content monitoring, which means:

We will review your website and any other web presence you use to promote IG on a regular basis, to ensure that you are complying with our terms and conditions and any relevant regulations.

We will provide you with feedback and suggestions on how to improve your content quality, accuracy, and relevance, as well as how to optimise your conversion rates and performance.

We will notify you of any changes or updates to our products, services, or policies that may affect your content or require you to make amendments.

We will alert you of any issues or concerns that we identify during our monitoring process, and work with you to resolve them as soon as possible.

We value our partnership with you and want to help you succeed as an IG affiliate. By monitoring your content, we aim to ensure that you are providing the best possible service to your audience and representing IG in a professional and trustworthy manner.
