You can change your password by following the steps below:
On Desktop
Using a web browser, open our website
Log in to your My IG dashboard
Open the ‘settings’ tab
Click on ‘username & password’
Click on ‘Change password’
Enter your current password and your new password. Your new password must be 8–20 characters long and include at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one number
Click ‘Save’
On Mobile
The IG app does not currently have an option to change your password while you are logged in. To reset your password:
If you are logged in, log out of the app
On the login screen, tap ‘Forgotten details?’
Enter the email address you use to receive emails from IG, then tap ‘Reset password’
You will see a confirmation message stating that, if the email address is registered to an IG account, your username and password reset details will be sent to your inbox.
Check your email for the message confirming your username and containing a Password Reset button. Select Password Reset in the email. This will take you to a page where you can create a new password.
Your new password must have a minimum of eight characters, including one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one number.The link is valid only for one hour. If it expires, you will need to submit a new request.
If you are unable to log in
If you do not know your current password, you can request a password reset in either of the following ways:
Through chat — tell us that you would like to reset your password and confirm your registered email address.
Via our lost details page — enter your registered email address.
After you request a reset
You will receive an email confirming your username, with a 'Password Reset' button. This link is valid for one hour - if it expires, you will need to submit a new request.
Clicking the button takes you to a page where you can set a new password. Your new password must have a minimum of eight characters, one upper case letter, one lower case letter and one number.
