What’s a Swing Trader?
Swing Traders like you have a less frenetic approach than Scalpers, usually holding onto trades for between a day and a week. Your idea is to try and capture a slice of a larger 'swing' or market movement.
As you still have a relatively short timeframe, you typically favour technical analysis over fundamentals while also keeping across news events that trigger volatility.
An eye for chart analysis detail is key as you look for smaller, more frequent gains and cutting losses ASAP.

Will I always be a Swing Trader?Not necessarily. While being a Swing Trader will initially suit your personality, experience helps you develop your own forex trading style. You might well find that, in a year or two, your interests and appetites have changed. Re-evaluate your style again, 12 months from now and see if you have remained a Swing Trader or if you’ve become a Scalper, Position Trader or Algorithmic Trader. REMEMBER, Forex trading in your suggested style will not guarantee success. |
