Why can I not trade digital 100s?

ESMA, the European financial regulator, has chosen to ban the marketing, distribution or sale of binary options to retail investors. This means IG no longer offers digital 100s or sprint markets to retail clients contracted with a European IG office.

How can I continue to trade digital 100s with IG?

You can explore our global range of products and services to find out which IG office offers the best trading account for you, based on your trading priorities.

Also please note that professional clients are still able to trade digital 100s. If you have high levels of trading experience, a large investment portfolio or experience working in financial services, you may meet regulatory criteria to be categorised as professional.

If you think you may be eligible, you can elect to be categorised as professional in three steps:

  1. Log in to your IG account
  2. Follow the prompts
  3. Answer the questions
If you can’t see the prompt, go to ‘settings’ > ‘client and account status’ on desktop, or the 'accounts' area in-app.

Please note that if you elect to be categorised as a professional client, you’re not deemed to need the same level of protection as a retail client and your trading may be subject to fewer restrictions – including those on margin rates.
