How do I transfer my shares to a sub-account, spouse, or relative?

For transfers between your own IG sub-accounts (no third party involved): No form is required. Simply email giatransfers@ig.com with the following details:

• Your source account number
• Your destination account number
• Stock name and number of shares to transfer

Timeline: 1–2 working days.

For transfers to a spouse, relative, or civil partner:

• Download and complete the relevant form found below. Please note we require a wet signature from both the parties (Receiving and Delivering) – electronic signatures will not be accepted.
• Internal transfer form (PDF) for non-ISA and non-SIPP shares, ETFs and ETCs between spouses, relatives, or civil partners. A clear scanned and signed copy can be emailed to giatransfers@ig.com for processing. We do not accept forms sent via post.
• Kindly ensure that the negative cash balance is cleared on the transferor's account to proceed with the transfer.
• If the transfer includes US stocks, W-8BEN must be updated on the receiving account as well.
  
  

Can I transfer shares from my spouse's account at another broker to my IG account?

Not directly. To transfer shares between spouses across different brokers, you must follow a two-step process:

1. First, transfer the shares from your spouse's account at the other broker to your spouse's IG account
2. Then complete an internal transfer between your spouse's IG account and your IG account
