Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday 19 January

  • US equity markets are closed

  • US index futures close early at 6pm. We'll make out-of-hours prices on Wall Street, the S&P 500, US Tech 100 and the US Russell 2000 until 9pm.

  • All other out of hours markets will close at 9pm. Futures reopen at 11pm

  • The Volatility Index (VIX) closes early at 4.30pm and reopens at 11pm

  • Metals, including Gold and Silver, and US energies close early at 7.30pm and reopen at 11pm

  • US rates close early at 6pm and reopen at 11pm

  • US soft commodities are closed

  • London Sugar closes early at 5pm

  • Lumber and Livestock are closed

  • US Grain futures open at 1am

  • US and Canadian equity markets are closed

US Daylight Saving Time (DST) and British Summer Time (BST) - March

As of Sunday 8 March 2026, daylight saving time begins in North America. British Summer Time (BST) begins on Sunday 29 March 2026.

During this period, US and Canadian markets will trade one hour earlier than usual in UK (GMT) time.

General market changes during this period

The following changes apply from 8 March until BST begins on 29 March:

  • US and Canadian equities (including equity options) will trade between 1:30pm and 8pm (GMT).

  • US 24-hour shares will open an hour earlier on Mondays (midnight) and close an hour earlier on Fridays (9pm).

  • FX and cryptocurrency overnight funding will be applied for positions held through 9pm (5pm EST).

Friday 13, 20, 27 March 2026

  • FX markets, commodities, 24-hour index markets and the dealing desk close at 9pm

  • New York Cocoa, Sugar, Coffee and London Sugar all close an hour earlier

  • Any expiring US markets will be settled an hour earlier than usual

  • All times are in UK time (GMT)

Saturday 14, 21, 28 March 2026

  • Cryptocurrencies and weekend markets open at 8am

  • All times are in UK time (GMT)

Sunday 8, 15, 22 March 2026

  • FX markets open at 9pm

  • FX markets on the MT4 platform open at 10pm

  • 24-hour index markets open at 10pm

Good Friday & Easter – Thursday 2 April to Tuesday 7 April

All times below are in UK time (GMT).

Friday 3 April 2026

  • European indices will be closed.

  • US indices will close early at 2:15pm. All out-of-hours markets will also close at 2:15pm.

  • US rates and bonds will close early at 4:15pm.

  • European commodities will be closed. US commodities, metals and energies will be closed

  • The VIX's main session is closed, but extended trading hours allow trading until 2:30pm UK time.

  • Japan 225, Singapore Blue Chip and China A50 will remain open.

  • There will be no LBMA Gold FIX.

Saturday 4 April 2026

  • Weekend markets and cryptocurrencies will be open as normal.

Sunday 5 April 2026

  • Weekend markets and cryptocurrencies will be open as normal.

Monday 6 April 2026

  • European equity markets will be closed.

  • European 24-hour indices will be quoted out of hours until 10:00pm.

  • UK Natural Gas and EU TTF will be closed.

  • US markets will re-open.

  • Sugar No. 11, Coffee and Cocoa will open late at 11:30am.

  • There will be no LBMA Gold FIX.

Tuesday 7 April 2026

  • European markets will re-open.

Early May Bank Holiday – Monday 4 May

All times below are in UK time (BST).

Monday 4 May 2026

  • UK equity markets and index futures will be closed. We will offer out-of-hours pricing on the FTSE 100

  • UK agricultural commodities will be closed along with UK Natural Gas and Emissions

  • UK interest rates and bonds will be closed

  • Delayed open for New York Cocoa, NY Coffee and NY Sugar at 12.30pm

  • There will be no LBMA Gold and Silver Fix

Memorial Day (US) / Spring Bank Holiday (UK) – Monday 25 May

All times below are in UK time (BST).

Monday 25 May 2026 – US Markets

  • US equity markets will be closed.

  • 24-hour equities will start pricing from Tuesday 1am

  • US index futures will close early at 6pm

  • We'll offer out-of-hours pricing from 6pm until 9pm

  • All other out-of-hours markets will close at 9pm. Futures reopen at 11pm.

  • US interest rates and bonds will close early at 6pm

  • US soft commodities are closed. US metals and energies will close early at 7.30pm

  • The VIX closes early at 4.30pm and reopens at 11pm

  • There will be no LBMA Gold and Silver FIX

Monday 25 May 2026 – UK Markets

  • UK equity markets and index futures will be closed. We will offer out-of-hours pricing on the FTSE 100

  • UK commodities will be closed, apart from Brent Crude, Heating Oil, EU Nat Gas and London Gas Oil futures which will close early at 6.30pm

  • UK interest rates and bonds will be closed

  • There will be no LBMA Gold and Silver FIX

  • US equity markets including 24 hour equities, and soft commodities will be closed.

  • Brent Crude and Gas Oil futures close early at 6.30pm

  • US index futures will close early at 6pm. We'll offer out-of-hours pricing from 6pm until 9pm. All other out-of-hours markets will close at 9pm.

  • UK energies close early at 6.30pm. London Sugar closes early at 5pm.

  • US interest rates close early at 6pm.

  • US energies and metals close early at 6pm.

  • The VIX closes early at 4.30pm.

  • Business as usual for LBMA Fix orders.

UK Summer Bank Holiday – Monday 31 August

  • UK equities, index futures, soft commodities and interest rates will be closed.

  • We'll be making an out-of-hours price on the FTSE until futures re-open at 1am on Tuesday.

  • Brent Crude and London Gas Oil will be open as normal.

  • UK Natural Gas futures will be closed.

  • New York Cocoa, Coffee and Sugar contracts will open late at 12.30pm.

  • There will be no LBMA Gold and Silver FIX on 31st August.

US Labor Day – Monday 7 September

  • US Index futures will close early at 6pm. We’ll offer out of hours pricing from 6pm until 9pm. The futures re-open at 11pm.

  • European indices will close at 9pm. All other out-of-hours markets will close at 9pm.

  • US equities and soft commodities will be closed.

  • US interest rates will close early at 6pm.

  • US metals and energies will close early at 7.30pm.

  • Brent Crude, London Gas Oil, ICE WTI, UK Nat gas, EU TTF will close early at 6.30pm.

  • London Sugar will close early at 5pm.

  • The VIX will close early at 4.30pm.

  • Lumber and Livestock are closed

End of UK and European Daylight Saving Time (DST) - October

  • US and Canadian markets open one hour earlier in UK time (shares quoted 1:30pm–8pm UK time)

  • Leveraged trading on US shares (All Sessions): Mon–Thu 8am–midnight; Friday 30 Oct 8am–9pm

  • All FX markets open at 9pm on Sunday 25 Oct and close at 9pm on Friday 30 Oct

  • 24-hour indices open at 10pm on Sunday 25 Oct and close at 9pm on Friday 30 Oct

  • All markets close at 9pm on Friday 30 Oct (one hour earlier than normal)

  • NY Cocoa, Sugar, Coffee and London Sugar close one hour earlier than normal

  • HKEX shares close at 8am UK time; SGX shares close at 9am UK time

  • South African equities open at 7am and close at 2:50pm (until March 2027)
