To participate in IPOs and transfer shares to your IG account, you'll need to follow this process:
Steps to transfer IPO shares to IG:
Register with a participating broker - You'll need to open an account directly with a broker that participates in the IPO you're interested in. The participating brokers vary depending on the stock exchange and specific IPO.
Participate in the IPO - Follow the participating broker's process to apply for and receive IPO share allocations.
Transfer shares to IG - Once your shares are allocated and settled with the participating broker, you can initiate a transfer to your IG share dealing account using standard share transfer procedures.
Important:
IG does not directly offer IPO participation services as we need to receive shares from our primary broker
You'll need to research which brokers are participating in specific IPOs yourself
IPO shares cannot be transferred directly to an IG ISA - they must first be transferred to your IG share dealing account, after which you can request a bed and ISA transfer
Once IPO shares are allocated and settled with your participating broker, they can be transferred to IG following standard broker-to-broker timelines (see the transfer timeline section in the 'How do I transfer my shares or ISAs from another broker to IG?' article). Transfers cannot proceed while shares are subject to settlement restrictions or corporate action events.
