What is CKA?

Customer knowledge assessment is aimed at safeguarding the interest of Retail Investors. CFD providers in Singapore are required to assess whether a Retail investor has the relevant knowledge or experience (work-related or trading) to understand the features and risks of CFDs before setting up a CFD-trading account.

This suitability check does not apply if you are an Accredited Investor or Expert Investor.

“Accredited Investor” is an individual whose net personal assets exceed S$2 million (or its equivalent in a foreign currency) or whose annual income in the preceding 12 months is not less than S$300,000 (or its equivalent in a foreign currency).

“Expert Investor” is a person whose business involves the acquisition and disposal, or the holding, of capital markets products, whether as principal or agent. Example is an individual employed as a dealer or financial adviser by a financial institution in Singapore.

Assessment criteria

 To pass CKA, you must meet anyone of the assessment criteria

  1. Education – have a diploma or high qualification in accountancy, actuarial science, business/business administration/business management/business studies, capital markets, commerce, economics, finance, financial engineering, financial planning, computational finance and insurance;
  2. Finance-related professional qualification;
  3. Working experience – have worked a minimum of 3 consecutive years in the past 10 years in the development of, structuring of, management of, sale of, trading of, research on and analysis of investment products or the provision of training in investment products. Work experience in accountancy, actuarial science, treasury or financial risk management activities are relevant experience; or
  4.  Trading experience – transacted in CFDs at least 6 times in the preceding 3 years.

If you fail to meet the assessment criteria, you can still take this quiz and be eligible to trade once you've passed.
