Monday morning snapshot

A snapshot of the early morning's equity news and key market movements.

Friday's US close: The Dow Jones closed up 61 points at 15,570, the NASDAQ finished up 38 points at 3638 and the S&P 500 ended up seven points at 1759.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up nine points at 6730.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 29 pips at $1.6196, EUR/USD is up 13 pips at $1.3811 and USD/JPY is up 19 pips at ¥97.61. Brent crude is up 47 cents at $104.42 and gold is trading at $1350, down $1.

Stocks: Balfour Beatty was awarded two contracts worth £73 million. InterContinental Hotels Group announced a 4.5% increase in nine-month revenue per room. 

The day ahead: In the US, industrial production is due out at 2.15pm, followed by pending home sales at 3pm.
