This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently up five points at 6628.
FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 11 pips at $1.6177, EUR/USD is down 13 pips at $1.3407 and USD/JPY is up 32 pips at ¥98.04. Brent crude is down 26 cents at $109.65 and gold is trading at $1321, down $5.45.
Stocks: Over the weekend French utility company EDF signed a contract with the UK government to build a nuclear power station for £16 billion. The government has elsewhere stated that it is in the process of trying to create a 'bad bank' to house all of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s weaker areas, in order to prepare to extract itself from the company.
The day ahead: Pre-market German monthly PPI figures came in better-than-expected. The next batch of economic data out today is not until 3pm, for US existing home sales and crude oil inventories.
