How does the account inactivity fee work?
If your account is inactive for 24 consecutive months, it will be closed. However, if your account still holds funds, you’ll be charged a rolling monthly inactivity fee of £12. We will notify you via email before the first fee is deducted.
Please note that the inactivity fee can’t take your account balance below zero. You will see the inactivity fee reflected on your account statements.
The inactivity fee will not be charged if you’re active across any of your accounts under the same login. You can stay active by opening or closing a position, or maintaining an open position.
Please note that for share dealing accounts (including ISAs and SIPPs), dividend payments count as activity. If you’re invested in an IG Smart Portfolio, it will be rebalanced every quarter or six months by our team – which counts as activity. There is no inactivity fee for IG Smart Portfolios themselves.
If you want to, you can close your account and withdraw the remaining funds.
