Templates on the MetaTrader 4 platform enable traders to create visual representations of charts containing graphical indicators, objects, colour settings, and time frame configurations. The platform's database includes several default templates that users can access by right-clicking on a chart and selecting from the displayed list.

How do I use default templates?


Step 1 - Right-click on any chart

Step 2 - Select a template from the list

Step 3 - The template applies instantly to your chart

How do I view template contents?


This functionality allows traders to understand the components included in each template before applying it to their charts.

To see what's included in a template:

Step 1 - Right-click on the chart

Step 2 - Select one of these options:

  • Indicators list - Shows all indicators in the template

  • Objects list - Shows all objects in the template

How do I create a custom template?


The platform provides the option to create personalised templates. The process begins with determining which elements to include in the template. Starting with a plain chart, users can add various components such as indicators and objects.


Set up your chart

Step 1 - Start with a plain chart

Step 2 - Add indicators you need

  • Double-click the indicator (e.g., Moving Average)

  • The indicator appears on your chart

Step 3 - Add objects if needed

  • Select the object from the top menu (e.g., Vertical Line)

  • Set it to your desired date and time


Save your template

Step 1 - Right-click inside the chart window

Step 2 - Select Templates

Step 3 - Click Save Template

Step 4 - Your template saves to the data folder

How do I apply a saved template?


Step 1 - Right-click inside any chart window

Step 2 - Select Load Template

Step 3 - Choose your template from the list

Step 4 - Your saved settings apply instantly to the chart
