Friday night in the US: The Dow Jones closed up 25 points at 16,947, the NASDAQ finished up two points at 3802 and the S&P 500 ended the day up three points at 1962.

This morning in London: The FTSE 100 is currently down 29 points at 6795.

FX and commodities: GBP/USD is up 14 pips at $1.7028, EUR/USD is 15 pips at $1.3590 and USD/JPY is down 20 pips at ¥101.88. Brent crude is up 55 cents at $115.39 and gold is trading at $1315, up $1.

Stocks: ASOS lost 20% of its stock in a warehouse fire. Shares in AA have fallen on its first day of trading, down 3.4% to 241.5p, after an IPO price of 250p was set. Comments about 'breakdowns' abound, but the result indicates how choosy investors have become regarding IPOs.

The day ahead: Bank of England credit conditions will be released at 9.30am. In the US, flash manufacturing is expected at 2.45pm, followed by existing home sales at 3pm.
